A nurse has been offered vouchers worth £100 from supermarket giant after she found a dead baby weasel in her salad.
Rifat Ashgar 42, from Bradford, immediately vomited after discovering half a weasel in her Asda carrot and sweetcorn salad. Ms Ashgar was on her lunch break at work, when one of her work colleagues spotted the two inch rodent in the salad.
Ms Ashgar revealed that the experience affected the way she shops: “I initially thought it was a mouse, and for about a week afterwards I had weird dreams about mice coming out my mouth. It completely changed the way I shop now and I can’t buy any prepared food any more. I’m having to make it all myself. It was so traumatising.”
Asda reportedly told Ms Ashgar that the rodent must have been picked up in a field during harvesting and was missed by staff at the factory.
Asda have since apologised to Ms Ashgar and said: “We work hard to make sure our products are in the best possible condition for our customers to enjoy, so we’re very sorry that on this occasion we let Ms Asghar down.”
Since the incident Ms Ashgar has been unable to shop at supermarkets.
